KEI Thread Guard

The NY unSAFE Act lists threaded barrels as a banned feature, along with all the different types and styles of flash suppressors and muzzle breaks. 

KEI has manufactured this thread guard, to be permanently attached, to comply with the requirement. Retail price $10 for one, plus tax and shipping.  Wholesale price depends on volume, with lots of 10 being $75 plus shipping, proof of tax exemption required. 

From raw stock on the left, we used a small CNC machine to cut the outside diameter, drill the center, and create a relief in one end. The piece is cut off and moved to the mill where it is threaded to 1/2x28tpi. The piece is moved back to the CNC machine where its cut to length and the second relief is cut.  Black oxide finish was done by a subcontractor. Made in CNY (Mexico).

Length runs 0.640 to 0.645, based on the length needed for our example Armalite AR-15's. This length should work with most AR barrels threaded in 1/2x28tpi.  It will not work with most AK's with metric thread patterns.This length provides a very slight overhang to protect the muzzle similar to a standard crown.

Outside diameter runs a little over 0.700, but well under the 0.750 needed to clear gas blocks and front A frame sites.
